@coriander anyway the whole colonialist thing is actually revisionism; it was just a calvinist get-together for folks who thought christmas was idolatry

@coriander wikipedia claims one major reason the colonialist stuff got added to thanksgiving was because it made it easier to teach colonial nationalism in schools in the late 19th and early 20th centuries if it was attached to a holiday
