... don't ask me to be consistent in all things though. Like rich person vanity projects, sure definitely bad, way to sink stolen money in return for vanity/status or tax breaks or to illegitimately immortalize their names, rich people are bad and in particular Jeff Bezos is one of the worst, this money is made off of the inhuman treatment of workers and the userption and deconstruction of society, and that cannot be extricated from the creation and from the art itself,

.. GOD I'm sorry the Clock Of The Long Now is just so cool to me, it hits me so precisely I can't not enjoy it, I'm sorry I'm sorry I know but I'm sorry.
(Also like hypocrisy is like. ACTUALLY rather overrated. Like there's some value in consistency, sure, but if someone acts and talks as if they believe X but then does Y, and one of those things is unethical, then nine times out of ten the worse thing is the Y (or X) that's unethical, not the fact that they're inconsistent about it. By a massive margin.)
@gaditb all my communist friends are so committed to not appearing bourgeois that instead of saying good things while doing bad they say bad things and then go do good
@gaditb
sympathetic reading: most tankies are fine actually and care more about organizing and helping people than your average liberal, despite having politically‐incorrect authoritarian takes
less‐sympathetic reading: the desire to avoid appearing bourgeois sometimes prevents the people who do good things from speaking about them in good ways, because they conflate cultural sensitivity with liberalism
musical reading: https://youtu.be/pEGZqsB8nm0
common reading: the insight that words and actions don’t always line up goes both ways
don’t take “communist friends” too literally; i’d say “comrades” if i meant my actual crew
