SPICY UX design take

FIGHT THE TYRANNY OF THE DEFAULT AT ITS SOURCE

RANDOMIZE ALL USER PREFERENCES ON FIRST RUN

(well within the bounds inside where you have tested. hyler-large-font, e.g., is a bit outside but still tested. If you don't already have those bounds, you have other roblems you need to address.)
(roll three-to-five times for choices to offer the user)

This is actually an earnest proposal.

I'm not confident it'll work. But I think at least a few projects should try it.

Follow

@gaditb why randomize when you could just present the user with a hundred “yes / no / random” prompts on first run

@Lady Randomize first, have a "customize?" prompt pop up to direct to that immediately.

Give them a glimpse of what they're choosing to deviate from, first.
