Lately what this means to me is keeping world anvil open and sometimes jotting a couple little things down

@Lady Like the reason we have so many JRR Tolkien books is because of how much of his writing was the analogue equivalent of this exact thing

@coriander yeah i agree and like

telling a story is hard and getting it right might be a once‐in‐a‐lifetime thing

but building a world to set that story in is itself a lifelong project, so

@Lady Yeah my girlfriend has been doing the same worldbuilding for like a decade and even though she knows the story she wants to tell in that world at this point I think she cares more about the world than the story

And there's nothing at all wrong with that

@coriander i have a project like that too; i haven't touched it in a fair while but i’m trying to build up some infrastructure for the conlanging

@coriander i have an existing corpus of hundreds of words and grammars and an entire linguistic history from when i was in high school but it's like, in a bunch of XML files in lots of different places and it's kind of a pain to work with

@coriander anyway of course a kibi language can't be normal and requires a kibi custom character set which is why i've been spending the past month writing text rendering code lmao
