Collecting names should be normalized so I can tell my IRL friends to sometimes call me Coriander without having to explain the whole thing about how I have a second name that isn't any part of my legal name but is still my name

"Hey you know I also go by Coriander"
'So should I not call you [legal name]?'
"No, I use that name too, that's fine"

Like that's just a weird conversation to have!

@witchfynder_finder i have enough difficulty telling my coworkers that they can refer to me by my first OR last name

@witchfynder_finder i have some coworkers who know me as kibi and then the other ones are like "oh NO, should i be calling you kibi too?!!" and i am like i literally do not give a fuck if you call me kibi or not

relatedly this is why i went and made kibi instead of my legal surname my professional last name

@witchfynder_finder because if i had coworkers calling me kibi and it wasn't one of the Options it would be like 10x worse

@witchfynder_finder strong advocate of changing your professional surname to a contemporarily accurate epithet like "goblin", "cat", or "glaceon" it's way better than a historical one like "smith" or "taylor"

@Lady I have honestly considered when I start working again just telling people in whatever shop I'm in that my name is Coriander

@Lady That's VERY gender but I worry I'd have a hard time convincing welders to call me that =P
