feels like social media lost the point of the web somewhere along the way
social media is an interchange of index cards with only minor support for breadth (hashtags, other posts by the same author) and approximately zero support for depth, and the intention of showing you as many cards as possible (because some are ads) rather than letting you explore within a few really good ones
the point of the web is a hypertext platform of interconnected resources so that for any information item, one can explore both in terms of breadth (related resources) and depth (different refinements in scope)
