a thing I think about often when it comes to normies clinging incredibly hard to their childhood media even when it's clear the creators are profiting off of bigotry is that unlike queer/minority kids, they didn't have early experiences with media that didn't love them back

@hystericempress @astraluma somewhat tangentially and a bit contradictorily, i think sedgwick was onto something when they suggested that the reason squares are so bad at media analysis is because they’ve never had to work hard to see themselves in it
