On August 27, 2040, a trans man, estranged from and finally free of his conservative family, receives a gift from his friends on his 18th birthday: the funds for a name and gender-marker change. He's been indecisive about his name for a while; he'd told them a few months ago that he'd finally settled on one, but not what the name was.
"What's it going to be," they ask, curiously.
He shows them the paperwork: GEORGE JOHN JETSON.
After college, George pursues a master's degree in mechanical engineering; when he completes the degree at 24, he takes a job with Spacely's Sprockets, helping in the design process and learning to oversee the automated assembly lines. By 28 he's been promoted a few times, and Mr. Spacely himself has asked George to oversee Jane Singleton, a 21-year-old just starting a CSEE master's who's asked for an internship at SS.
