i’m reading the wikipedia page for the wheel of time and it seems very confused

· · Web · 2 · 1 · 1

are the two halves good and evil or are the two halves male and female make up your mind dude

> The One Power is divided into male and female halves, saidin and saidar, which work in opposition and in unison to drive the Wheel.

okay so this is like yin and yang. yin, darkness, passivity, femininity, and yang, light, activity, masculinity. surely they are present in all living things and drive the events of history.

> The Creator imprisoned its antithesis, "Shai'tan," the Dark One, at the moment of creation, sealing him away from the Wheel.

okay hold up

is the Dark One also split in half?? is there an antimale and antifemale?? or is it just the Light One who gets divided into Gender

> In response to this threat, the Wheel spun out the Dragon, a channeler of immense power, to be a champion for the Light.

why does the Wheel………care??

if anything you would think the Wheel would be on the side of the Dark One since he’s the one who was unfairly thrown in prison and all

@Lady So the Wheel of Time is simultaneously both a metaphor for the passage of time and the forces of Fate and Destiny but also a semi-sentience that actively interferes in the workings of the world in order to achieve what is Fated to happen

@witchfynder_finder right but what doesn’t make sense to me is why this is what is Fated

@witchfynder_finder also wasn’t the wheel created by the creator?? why didn’t the creator just make it differently?? like in a way which wouldn’t require him to totally have his ass beat??

@Lady Because Robert Jordan only ever half-baked his ideas and never really fully fleshed them out well

@witchfynder_finder see this is why the lord of the rings was finished before it was published
