Dune is full of shots of gloomy candlelit hallways and sword battles and stone castles and dukes and princess and witches with unknowable power

It's a sci-fi film that feels like a high fantasy epic and it's all so grounded in the universe that you don't even notice the difference you just say "Yeah, that's what sci-fi is"

@witchfynder_finder my dad was like “they didn't explain the voice!” and i was like “dude they didn't NEED to explain the voice”

@Lady They DID explain the Voice! It's a thing some people can do to control other people. That's what the whole water scene was about!

@witchfynder_finder i meant scientifically; they did a very good job of demonstrating what it is and does

you don't need to know the science behind it because you can literally see it happening

@Lady Oooh I see

Yeah I don't need to know, like, The Lore behind it, I got what I needed to understand it

@witchfynder_finder yeah i think it would have been a much worse movie if it had obsessed itself with lore

@Lady The pacing is already incredibly Deliberate (that means it's slow but I liked it anyway), if they had tried to be like "Okay now here's the nitty-gritty of the universe" the thing would have been a fucking SLOG

@witchfynder_finder i love the pacing; i know not everyone likes it but every single piece is saying something directly relevant to the film and its journey

fuck action filler which is just in there to make the movie seem “fast”

@witchfynder_finder people who think dune is too slow are the same people who didn't cry at the end of totoro
