There are some actually incredibly interesting conversations to be had around the Lord of the Rings movies and how we approach the theatrical vs the extended cuts and the merits which both exhibit but unfortunately Internet Nerds have made it so that if you say anything other than "The extended cuts are the only true way to experience these movies" you just get called a heretic
@witchfynder_finder i have lots of opinions about the lord of the rings movies and still haven’t seen the extended cuts tbh
@Lady You should! They're absolutely phenomenal pieces of filmmaking that take the already-masterful original cuts and expand them in really interesting ways.
But also you should do this over maybe a long weekend because if you try to do it all at once that's 12 hours of movies
@witchfynder_finder i definitely should i just never had access to them growing up which is when i was liable to watch the lord of the rings, we only ever had the theatrical cuts on DVD
